- How you describe your own Personality and Persona.
“Witty woman is a treasure; a witty beauty is power!” I had recently accidentally hit this quote somewhere and it remained with me. I thought about it all day, that day, and spent the evening hopping around in a beautiful spiral of thoughts. Days, months have passed since then but the words remain in my mind\soul fresh as a lime even today. So what happens when the two most powerful, persuasive, phenomenal forces – beauty and intelligence meet in an extraordinary combination? Limitless power is generated! Power – that is absolute, rigorous and thorough; yet gentle, frangible and most importantly, selfless. Power that is fierce, no lukewarm. Power that is one of its kind – rare, rarer than any Kohinoor. Power that is beautiful. Imperative. I call myself “aam aurat\janta”. And there is no one more beautiful than aam, is there? Hence, to answer your question, I would say I have beauty of a beautiful woman, intelligence of an intelligent human, commitment of a dedicated mother, wits of a witty human, affection of a thoughtful daughter, strength of a protector, and selflessness like every woman. And it’s the combination of these aam qualities that make me feel content and happy with who I am. I love to be in my skin but have a never ending thirst for knowledge. Change has never bothered me. I love to evolve with knowledge and have this “chul” of bringing smiles. Not on others faces. I love to see souls smile. I thrive to bring happiness to our world. Happiness that is real, happiness out of care and concern and not for projects. I sleep the best when I have comforted a crying child at a signal, medicated a coughing child on roads, taught women in villages, etc. Hence, to conclude, I would say a personality has zillions facets, and to describe mine in few words, the above paras should do justice.
- Your Achievements that makes you feel high.
When I once gave my full month’s pocket money to help a poor, crying woman. Her son was ill and she did not have the money for his medical tests. I was 16-17 then and had to hide my way to get to her. I slept with a smile that night. When I donated all my clothes (including my favorite designer ones) to an orphanage. The thought riding my action was – the kids will be happier than me in my clothes. I was 22 then. Had never experienced such joy before. The joy of giving. When I took a whole bunch of street kids for shoe buying. It used to rain a lot there. Though in a week’s time, I realised all the shoes I had given were sold by the kids for money, I learnt a valuable lesson – Food first! The above are some examples of my achievements that make me feel high. As about society and my parents, they also take pride in the fact that I am writer as well as a Marketing person. I started writing for newspapers when I was 18. I work for HCL as their Marketing Manager as my full time job. I have worked very closely with various brands like TOI, CNN IBN, UNI, The Asian Age, IBM, Nokia, Coca Cola, ESPN, Cadbury, Glade, Mr. Muscle, Kiwi, Raid, Bacardi, HCL, O&M etc in my short career of 5 years.
- Define the true beauty.
True beauty is the smell of first rain after a long drought, true beauty is a child’s first cry, true beauty is a father’s never acknowledged commitment to his family, true beauty is a child’s victory triumph over a toy – the one he worked hard to get, he scored well, true beauty is honey straight from the comb, true beauty is the peace in mother’s lap. True beauty is limitless, boundless. It’s is a source of immense happiness, ecstasy, bliss. I strongly believe what beautiful inside, cannot remain hidden inside. It reflects outside. Bright and shiny. Happy and peaceful. Like Mother Teresa. Remember? The most beautiful face. Radiant and full of love. Restricting beauty to conventional mind set of colors, shapes, sizes and age is a pity. Those who cannot see beyond these physical attributes have a sorry state of mind, and can only be pitied. True beauty is so much more. So much more.
- Do you consider yourself to be a giver or taker?
If given an option, I would love to be both. Infact give more than I take. No person can be only one in isolation. I too am not. But it feels like the time to give back has started now and m trying my best. There is nothing sweeter than the joy of giving. I tasted it very young and this joy, mark my words, is addictive. Once you live this ecstasy, you will never be able to go back to selfishness. Hence, I would like to call myself a giver at this point of time, but what I take back is priceless. A peaceful sleep, happy soul and humming mind.
- What is your favourite Idea of Holidaying?
Holidaying in its essence means breaking the monotony. My perfect holiday would be a perfect break from the taxing daily city life. My perfect holiday would have a small beautiful cottage overlooking a mountain\forest or sea (I am flexible like that), would have birds chirping all around. My perfect cottage will not be contaminated by city sounds and traffic hounds, it would let me enjoy the music that birds bring for us from lands far far away. A place comfortable in its skin, a place completely natural. Where some evenings I would sit in candle light, cozy with people I love. A perfect recharge, a perfect holiday.
- Why you are participating in Mrs India Earth?
My reason for participating in the contest is my chul. The chul I mentioned in the first answer. The chul that is a part of my personality. The “chul” of bringing smiles. Not on others faces. I love to see souls smile. I thrive to bring happiness to our world. Happiness that is real, happiness out of care and concern and not for projects. I sleep the best when I have comforted a crying child at a signal, medicated a coughing child on roads, taught women in villages, etc. Winning the contest would give me a backbone for what I want to achieve for our society. I would be able to serve many more unwell and needy fellow brothers and sisters, comfort so many more crying babies, enable so many more women, and do so so much more.
- What do understand by Global warming and how can it be reduced to save earth?
Our planet is sitting on a time bomb. It’s just a matter of time that we explode, if we don’t reverse the damage now! It is imperative to understand that the measures to save our beloved planet need to be way more rigorous than our ways of destroying it. Scientists says we have only a few more decades left, max. It’s is extremely crucial for our generation to start acting now, if we want our kids\grandkids to breathe free, live free, and most importantly live, at all. Hence, my strategy would be divided in 4 phases: 1. Awareness The biggest hindrance in acting to save our environment is denial. People still want to believe that climate change is fictional, they refuse to acknowledge the seriousness of this death wish! We have enough researches\scientists\reports\facts proving the graveyard threat to our environment. We just need to show these to people. I would do a thorough 360 campaign nation-wide, just informing people that their kids\grandkids will all die together if they don’t act now. I strongly believe, an effective awareness campaign would mean half the battle won! 2. Target the main culprits, not the weak The main culprits need to be targeted first. Strong, bold and powerful confrontation. This has never happened before and would have zillions of challenges but this is where the solution lies. Big corporates, industrial waste need to be handled before others. Even a 10% success would mean adding years to our home, so why not! 3. Trees – Our only saviour Plant trees – wherever possible. Distribute seeds in schools\colleges\offices. Encourage everyone to plant trees. Plant trees wherever there is soil. Leave no soil uncovered. Trees are the only means our planet would ever breath with. Plant trees wherever there is land. 4. Pollution by cars\Green house by ACs etc Last but not the least, try to inculcate responsibility in every individual. Stop the use of plastic\acs\polluting cars\etc.
- The Quote or saying that encourages you?
1. Dedicated to my love for Bukowski, “Some people never go crazy, what truly horrible lives they must live” 2. “Some of us are becoming the men we want to marry.” Gloria Steinem. Careful there! Because what’s a queen without a king? A Queen. 3. “Until the lion learns how to write, every story will glorify the hunter” African proverb 4. “Sure natural beauty is the most beautiful. But it takes a lot of make up to look natural!” Coco Chanel
- If you were selected as a Charity Ambassador what Value addition would you like to make for our Society and how?
If I am chosen to represent beauty with substance, I would try and bring justice to both beauty and substance in my title. I would love to spend the whole year doing something meaningful and lasting for the millions of innocent poverty struck kids. I would do my best to enable every woman in our country to break the shackles of misogyny and ruthless baseless crimes in the name of tradition. Would educate both women and kids. And last, but not the least, I would do everything I can to save my home. My planet. (Please refer to answer 7)
- Why do you think giving back to society is important?
Excuse me for the in-appropriation, but honestly, the question startles me. It’s like asking someone, “why should you love your mother?”. Society is everything we have. Being human – that’s what we were born for. Humanity in its definition talks about giving back, love, compassion, brotherhood, sisterhood, sharing, caring. Giving back to society is the only way we would sail through to the other end of life, peacefully.
